Hitachi and Mission Critical Group (MCG) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at developing and expanding data centre solutions worldwide.
The partnership will focus on broadening Hitachi’s HMAX Data Center portfolio while enabling cross-selling of energy solutions and related products between the two companies.

It comes amid a surge in global demand for data centres, driven largely by increased adoption of AI.
MCG, based in North America, supplies power distribution equipment and power modules to data centres in the region.
Hitachi’s offerings in the sector include power grid and distribution equipment, cooling systems, and data centre AI infrastructure.
HMAX Data Center forms part of the firm’s HMAX by Hitachi portfolio, designed to improve social infrastructure through the use of AI.
Through the agreement, both organisations intend to combine their technologies and expertise to accelerate the rollout of new data centres and enhance operational efficiency for customers.
The joint efforts will cover the delivery of energy solutions across high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems, leveraging both companies’ power infrastructure capabilities for data centre operators.
Planned initiatives also include the development of new solutions by integrating Hitachi’s digital technologies, such as data collection and AI analytics, into MCG’s modular power equipment.
Both firms will target areas like equipment monitoring, predictive maintenance, AI-driven analytics, and energy management optimisation as part of their work to expand and refine the HMAX Data Center portfolio.
MCG’s manufacturing processes are set to benefit from Hitachi’s automation and digital systems, aiming to improve productivity and operational efficiency in production facilities.
Hitachi senior vice-president and executive officer, Strategic SIB Business Unit CEO Jun Taniguchi said: “As we enter the AI era, data centres must evolve to meet new demands as critical social infrastructure.
“Leveraging our unique strengths across energy, digital technologies, products, and operational expertise, Hitachi is working through HMAX to create a new operating model that optimises infrastructure across the entire data centre from the power grid to IT equipment.”
Earlier this month, Hitachi launched HMAX Data Center, a suite of solutions focused on integrating and optimising data centre infrastructure.
