The planned sites are located roughly 55 miles from the company’s existing NC-1 data centre campus in Madison.
WhiteFiber stated that the addition of NC-2 and NC-3 will significantly extend its operations in the region, leveraging experience and relationships established through NC-1.
The combined sites are expected to deliver a minimum of 60MW of gross utility capacity upon initial completion.
Early assessments suggest the campuses may ultimately support up to 200MW of combined gross utility capacity.
WhiteFiber is aiming for the initial capacity to be ready for service in the third quarter of 2027, subject to acquiring the sites and fulfilling standard development requirements.
It is in advanced talks with potential customers and has received non-binding letters of intent that include investment-grade credit support.
The company said that the properties’ existing infrastructure and available land suit its retrofit-first development approach, which it believes will accelerate the time required to launch and increase capital efficiency compared to traditional greenfield projects.
WhiteFiber CEO Sam Tabar said: “This agreement is an important next step in scaling WhiteFiber’s data centre platform. NC-2 and NC-3 would expand our North Carolina footprint near NC-1, allowing us to build on the capabilities and relationships we have established in the region.
“With strong prospective customer interest and initial capacity targeted for 2027, we believe these properties can become a meaningful next phase of our growth. We look forward to working closely with local stakeholders and being a responsible long-term partner to the community.”
The cash purchase price for the properties is $60m.
WhiteFiber expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending customary closing conditions.
