Oxbridge Re Holdings has introduced AI GridWorks, a new infrastructure platform set up to develop, own and operate data centres dedicated to AI.
The new initiative aims to meet the rising need for computing facilities to support AI applications, with projects ranging from around 10MW to 100MW.
Access deeper industry intelligence
Experience unmatched clarity with a single platform that combines unique data, AI, and human expertise.
Initial efforts will focus on building data centres of around 50MW, while maintaining the ability to pursue larger projects in response to customer requirements and shifts in the market.
The company intends for AI GridWorks to oversee each stage of development, from power and real estate to engineering and ongoing operations.
As projects progress, Oxbridge expects to collaborate with engineering, construction and technology firms as necessary.
Oxbridge stated that AI GridWorks marks the first stage of its broader strategy for AI infrastructure.
Oxbridge and AI GridWorks chairman and CEO Jay Madhu said: “The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence is creating unprecedented demand for computing infrastructure.
“AI GridWorks was formed to develop and own AI data centres and related infrastructure. We believe owning and developing these critical AI infrastructure assets has the potential to create significant long-term value for our shareholders.”
With its entry into the AI data centre market, Oxbridge noted that its experience in developing new business models, including through its SurancePlus platform, has provided valuable expertise.
Previously, SurancePlus enabled the company to launch one of the first blockchain-based platforms for tokenised reinsurance securities, demonstrating Oxbridge’s focus on emerging technologies and compliance with the standards of a public company.
Oxbridge Re Holdings operates as a publicly traded company and its subsidiaries provide regulated property and casualty reinsurance solutions in the Gulf Coast region of the US.
The launch of AI GridWorks expands the company’s activities to the AI infrastructure sector, specifically focusing on the build-out of new AI data centres.
