Aligned Data Centers has introduced Delta Cube 3.0, also designated Delta³ 3.0, an updated air-cooling system engineered to improve thermal management across high-density facility environments.

Developed alongside industrial manufacturer Munters, the technology raises energy efficiency by 10% and boosts cooling performance by 10% compared to earlier models, whilst maintaining identical equipment dimensions.

The system serves as an airside element within the operator’s closed-loop infrastructure, operating without water consumption during cooling cycles.

It is designed to assist hyperscale, cloud, and AI facilities facing higher thermal loads caused by advanced processors and high-performance computing clusters.

According to Aligned Data Centers, lowering the electricity required for airflow distribution helps reduce overall campus power usage at scale, freeing available electrical capacity for IT workloads.

Aligned Data Centers chief technology officer Michael Welch said: “For more than a decade, Aligned’s growth has been fuelled by a commitment to cooling innovation. As compute densities skyrocket, air cooling isn’t going away, it just needs to adapt to ultra-high-density environments.

“We engineered our new airside solution to deliver meaningful gains in capacity and efficiency within the exact same physical footprint. By reducing the energy needed to move air, those watts can be used by our customer for revenue generating applications.”

The performance gains stem from collaborative work with Munters’ research and development division.

Engineering modifications focus on heat exchangers, supply fan impellers, and drive motors.

The redesigned hardware also incorporates standardised, prefabricated structural elements intended to accelerate site commissioning, alongside altered physical access routes intended to improve technical maintenance safety and minimise operational downtime.

Hardware supplied to North American facilities is assembled in the US across plants in Selma, Texas, and Daleville, Virginia.

The commercial deployment forms part of an intellectual property estate covering the Delta³ cooling platform, comprising more than 50 granted patents and over 500 individual patent claims.
