Trentar and the Government of Maharashtra in India have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a 500MW green integrated hyperscale data centre park, representing a planned investment of Rs300bn ($3.3bn).

The proposed facility is intended to support India’s digital infrastructure requirements across AI, machine learning, high-performance computing, large-scale data processing, and big-data analytics.

Trentar plans to incorporate abilities across resource management, power systems, and energy storage, targeting a minimum of 51% renewable energy for the site’s power supply.

The company is also assessing water-efficient cooling methods and the reuse of treated water, with specific technical configurations to be decided through feasibility and engineering studies.

Trentar Group founder and vice chairman Subodh Menon said: “Maharashtra has laid a strong foundation for India’s digital economy, and we are proud to contribute to the State’s next phase of growth.

“For more than three decades, our Group has delivered complex, mission-critical infrastructure through engineering excellence and operational discipline.

“We will bring that experience to a modular Data Centre campus built for rapid deployment and scalable growth, with sustainability, advanced technology and cost efficiency at its core.”

The agreement was exchanged as part of the Invest Maharashtra initiative, with the formal document presented by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

As part of the pact, state authorities will assist the company with clearances, registrations, approvals, permissions, and applicable regulatory incentives.

Maharashtra has issued a Letter of Intent confirming this administrative and policy backing for the scheme.

The project marks an expansion into the digital infrastructure sector for the Dorf Ketal Group, an industrial specialty-chemicals business established in 1992.

Trentar was formed in 2021 as the group’s technology and infrastructure arm, operating across sectors including power and energy storage systems, water treatment platforms, zero-emission land vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and geographic information systems.
