IonQ and South Korea-based SDT have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership focused on quantum data centre development in the Asia-Pacific region.
The companies described the agreement as their first strategic partnership aimed at bringing quantum computing and quantum networking to the region.

Under the arrangement, IonQ will supply a Superion 256 quantum computer and a silicon-vacancy (SiV) quantum memory module to SDT.
The Superion 256 is planned to be deployed with SDT’s South Korean customer. IonQ and SDT also intend to work together on a hybrid quantum-classical data centre.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between the companies involving cloud-based software integration.
This expanded collaboration will cover physical hardware production, assembly and a regional resale partnership. SDT also plans to set up a quantum manufacturing and system-integration facility in Gumi.
The site is intended to support SiV quantum memory packaging and manufacturing, along with quantum system assembly, integration as well as commissioning.

IonQ said the agreement extends its work in South Korea, which also includes collaborations with SK Telecom, KISTI, Hyundai Motor Company, Seoul National University and Sungkyunkwan University.
SDT provides hardware, software and system-integration services across the quantum technology value chain.
IonQ is headquartered in Maryland, US, and operates across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
