Digital Realty has announced a series of transactions aimed at increasing its data centre development capacity and strengthening its global footprint.
The company has acquired nearly 1,440-acre powered land site at Astra Enterprise Park near Kansas City for approximately $475m in cash and operating partnership units to support hyperscale data centre development.

To support future development at the site, Digital Realty has signed an Energy Service Agreement with the local utility to supply 600MW of power by early 2028, with the potential to scale to 2GW.
In addition, Digital Realty is set to increase its ownership in Teraco, a data centre platform based in Africa, by purchasing an additional 16% stake for about $650m.
The transaction, primarily completed through the issuance of 3.4 million shares of common stock, will bring Digital Realty’s ownership in Teraco to 77%.
Teraco operates a network of campuses serving a growing customer base across the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
Digital Realty has also agreed to acquire Columbia Capital, an investment firm in the digital infrastructure sector, for approximately $485m, largely through the issuance of 2.3 million shares.
Columbia Capital has managed over $9bn in fund commitments since its founding in 1989 and has previously co-invested with Digital Realty, notably in Teraco and through Vela Infrastructure.
Digital Realty president and CEO Andy Power said: “These transactions support the continued momentum of Digital Realty’s three core pillars of growth. Our history of collaboration with Columbia Capital reflects a shared long-term perspective while providing additional flexibility to support the scaling of both our hyperscale development pipeline and our private capital platform.”
Digital Realty stated that most of the funding for these investments will come from issuing 6.3 million shares at a weighted average price of $197.54 per share.
The Teraco and Columbia Capital deals are anticipated to conclude in the second half of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
