DG Matrix and Skeleton Technologies have announced a partnership aimed at enhancing power solutions for AI data centres transitioning to 800 VDC infrastructure.

The partnership focuses on integrating Skeleton’s energy storage systems with DG Matrix’s solid-state transformer (SST) platform for next-generation AI data centre deployments.

It involves Skeleton’s high-power storage being incorporated into DG Matrix’s Interport multi-port SST platform.

This integration spans several solutions, including the Interport CM medium-voltage SST skid, which converts AC to high-voltage DC; the Interport CL sidecar solution that mitigates GPU pulse loads; and Interport Flex, an outdoor product that supports modular configurations.

The alliance aims to tackle power challenges posed by modern AI data centres, particularly the strain from GPU clusters generating repetitive pulse loads. These loads often exceed what conventional power systems can handle.

Skeleton’s systems have been designed to respond rapidly, managing peak loads before they affect upstream infrastructure, while DG Matrix’s Interport platform facilitates real-time power routing across multiple levels.

As the density of GPU clusters increases, static power architectures struggle to keep up with demand. DG Matrix’s platform addresses this by employing software-defined, multi-port power routing and single-stage conversion.

By pairing this with Skeleton’s responsive storage, the platform can handle transients, maintain fault ride-through, and deliver the necessary backup power.

Both companies are said to be well-positioned for the 800 VDC transition, with DG Matrix’s Interport platform already compatible with 800 VDC and Skeleton’s GrapheneCBU800 and GrapheneBBU800 systems developed for this voltage.
