Saudi Arabia’s sovereign fund Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Aramco have completed a transaction giving the energy giant a 49% holding in HUMAIN.

Founded by PIF in May 2025, HUMAIN has been focused on building full-stack capabilities across the AI value chain.

PIF retains majority ownership at 51%, while Aramco, acting through a wholly owned subsidiary, will contribute approximately SR9.9bn ($2.6bn) in cash during 2026 alongside transfers of AI, compute and digital assets.

Both shareholders will bring AI capabilities and talent to the venture as part of the agreement.

The closed deal is intended to speed HUMAIN’s development of an integrated AI ecosystem that spans data centres, high-performance computing and cloud platforms, advanced models, and enterprise solutions.

HUMAIN has set a target of deploying 3GW of AI data centre capacity by 2030, positioning itself to address growing demand for AI compute both regionally and internationally.

PIF and Aramco originally disclosed the planned transaction in October 2025 through a non-binding term sheet.

PIF deputy governor and of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) investments head Yazeed Al-Humied said: “Bringing PIF and Aramco’s AI portfolio of investments together under HUMAIN creates a powerful synergy that fuels talent growth, technological advancement, and intellectual property creation.

“Fully aligned with PIF’s strategic objectives, this transaction accelerates HUMAIN’s growth into a global leader in the sector.”

For Aramco, the partnership offers a route to channel HUMAIN’s infrastructure into industrial AI applications while generating returns from its existing digital portfolio.

The Saudi integrated oil and gas company said the deal presented opportunities for revenue growth and attractive margins. Since 2023, Aramco has recorded $11.3bn in what it terms Technology Realized Value, a significant share of which it attributes to AI solutions.

Aramco president and CEO Amin Nasser said: “The HUMAIN deal is very important to Aramco, building on the company’s long track record of innovation and technology.

“This partnership with PIF strengthens Aramco’s position as a global technology leader and AI powerhouse, while laying the foundation for localising the AI industry and enabling faster, more integrated, and scalable deployment of AI systems.”

HUMAIN’s offering is organised around four pillars. These include next-generation data centres, high-performance infrastructure and cloud platforms, and advanced AI models such as ALLaM, a multimodal Arabic large language model.

The fourth pillar covers applied AI solutions designed for public and private sector organisations.

In a related development, HUMAIN and Nvidia recently announced at GTC Berlin an expanded collaboration to bring next-generation AI infrastructure to Saudi Arabia. That programme covers up to 84MW of compute capacity, starting with Nvidia Blackwell Ultra GPUs linked by Quantum-X800 InfiniBand networking in Q4 2026, with large-scale Nvidia Vera Rubin deployments planned from mid-2027.
