AirJoule Technologies and The Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers have entered into a strategic collaboration to evaluate the potential for converting waste heat from data centre operations into water.
The partners announced plans for an AirJoule Prime system to be installed at a member site of the Innovation Hub in 2026, providing an opportunity to test the technology in a live data centre setting.

The initiative aims to assess the role that heat-to-water technology might play in improving resource efficiency within data centres and advancing heat reuse strategies.
This project will explore how converting excess heat generated by servers can support broader resource recovery efforts and deliver benefits beyond the data centre’s immediate operations.
AirJoule’s system is designed to turn low-grade waste heat into usable water using a thermodynamic process that is compatible with industrial and infrastructure applications.
The Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers is pursuing a wider programme of work focused on heat reuse and so-called “Heat-to-X” solutions, seeking technologies that might help the sector progress towards its net zero objectives.
AirJoule previously participated in the Hub’s Net Zero Start-up programme, where the company worked with operators and experts to adapt its water-from-air solution to meet data centre requirements.
The Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers CEO Alberto Ravagni said: “Not all data centers have access to district heating infrastructure, which is why we need to explore other ways to create value from the heat they generate.
“Through our Heat-to-X workstream, we are working with AirJoule and our members to validate heat-to-water as one potential pathway for turning otherwise untapped heat into a useful resource and creating positive impact for communities beyond the data center fence.”
AirJoule Technologies CEO Matt Jore said: “When we joined the Net Zero Start-Up Hub earlier this year, our objective was to move AirJoule from demonstration toward deployment inside a working data centre.
“This collaboration delivers on that objective. By installing an AirJoule Prime system at a Hub member site, we will validate how waste heat from data centres can be converted into a usable water resource at commercial scale.”
