Nvidia has announced a collaboration with several companies in the Australian data centre sector to expand infrastructure supporting AI workloads, targeting up to 2GW of new capacity by 2027.
The initiative involves partners such as Firmus, Sharon AI, IREN, Megaport, ResetData, CDC, NEXTDC, and AirTrunk, which will operate new facilities hosting multiple generations of Nvidia’s DSX AI factory platform.

Experience unmatched clarity with a single platform that combines unique data, AI, and human expertise.
As part of the arrangement, Nvidia will supply the DSX platform, accelerated computing hardware, networking, software, and ecosystem support, while the partner data centre firms will be responsible for running the sites.
This expanded infrastructure is intended to address increasing demand for AI compute among Australian AI labs and startups.
Nvidia global AI clouds and infrastructure ecosystem vice-president Raj Mirpuri said: “AI factories turn energy into intelligence—the essential resource of the AI economy. Nvidia DSX is a full-stack platform compatible with the CUDA ecosystem and enhanced through software over the life of the infrastructure, making AI factories more productive, fungible and durable—and a new investable asset class.
“Through our partnerships with Australian NCPs, this infrastructure can support multiple generations of Nvidia compute and expand local access to accelerated computing and Nvidia Nemotron open models, helping Australian innovators build AI at home.”
Growing interest in AI across different sectors is driving the need for high-performance computing in Australia. The expanded data centre capacity is expected to enable more local development of AI models, applications, and agents.
Among the contributing partners, Sharon AI is deploying up to 68,000 Nvidia GPUs, connected using Nvidia Quantum InfiniBand and Spectrum-X Ethernet networking, to serve startups, enterprises, and research groups.
CDC and NEXTDC have developed AI-ready infrastructure throughout Australia and New Zealand, incorporating features such as direct liquid-to-chip cooling to support high-density workloads.
AirTrunk is introducing AI-ready powered shells with advanced cooling solutions, while ResetData is offering accelerated computing with a focus on data residency in Australia.
The DSX platform is designed to cover all aspects of the AI infrastructure stack, from facilities and hardware to networking and reference designs.
Nvidia states that this platform allows operators to support a broad set of workloads and customers and to make more effective use of existing assets.
Existing clients, such as Heidi and Atlassian, are already using Nvidia Nemotron open models for fields including healthcare voice applications and enterprise semantic search, respectively.
Last month, AM Intelligence, placed an order for 9,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin systems as part of its plan to establish a large-scale data centre in southern India.
