Samsung Electronics is set to establish a new HVAC production line in Gwangju, Korea by 2028, focusing on advanced cooling solutions for AI data centres.
The investment is expected to total around Won240bn ($158m). The facility, which will cover 21,500m², will produce HVAC products from FläktGroup.

Samsung Electronics acquired FläktGroup in 2025 and intends to integrate the company’s offerings for deployment in the Korean market, as well as other regions.
The new Gwangju production line will become FläktGroup’s 15th manufacturing facility globally.
Samsung Electronics aims to respond to the rising demand for data centre cooling infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on AI applications.
The company will supply HVAC systems and infrastructure across several industrial sectors in Korea, prioritising data centre demand. FläktGroup’s product range will play a central role in this expansion strategy.
Samsung Electronics executive vice-president and digital appliances (DA) business head Cheolgi Kim said: “Samsung’s acquisition of FläktGroup last year puts us in a unique position to expand the HVAC business and transform it into a new growth engine, to become a global top-tier company by 2030. This investment in the new production line in Korea will serve as a solid foundation for achieving this goal.”
FläktGroup recently expanded its manufacturing presence through a new facility in Pune, India, bringing its global manufacturing sites to 14 prior to the Gwangju investment.
The company supplies HVAC products to key markets including the US, Europe, and India.
FläktGroup CEO David Dorney said: “By combining Samsung’s AI expertise with FläktGroup’s HVAC product capabilities, we will be positioned to become an HVAC partner of choice in Korea and across Asia.”
Earlier, Samsung Heavy Industries and Mousterian signed an engineering contract for the deployment of their first floating data centre in the US.
