Galaxy Digital, doing business as Galaxy, has acquired nearly 500 acres in McGregor, McLennan County, Texas, US, for the development of its second major data centre campus in the state.
The company, through a development agreement with the City of McGregor, plans to build and operate an AI and high-performance computing (HPC) facility within McGregor Industrial Park.

This campus adds to Galaxy’s existing 1.6GW Helios site in West Texas.
The land purchase brought around $7.5m in revenue to the City of McGregor. The facility will be developed in collaboration with the McGregor Economic Development Corporation and Heart of Texas Electric Cooperative.
A services agreement with the utility is in place to deliver interconnection facilities needed for the campus.
Initial plans involve a development phase expected to reach 74MW, with the first phase aiming to begin receiving power in 2028, subject to development milestones.
Construction and ramp-up of operations will depend on the completion of required infrastructure. Galaxy has set out intentions to work with the utility to support further growth above the 75MW large load threshold, in alignment with ERCOT processes.
The company believes the site could eventually support a multi-hundred-megawatt campus through 2030, as additional transmission infrastructure is developed.
Under the agreement, Galaxy will fund and build a private electrical substation on site and cover the financial requirements for upgrades to local infrastructure. The project is expected to add a minimum of $130m to the local property tax base.
The data centre will use a closed-loop cooling system to minimise water usage, and Galaxy has committed to financing necessary water infrastructure.
Employment from the project is anticipated to include several hundred construction jobs and permanent full-time operational roles at salaries agreed upon with the City.
Galaxy Founder and CEO Mike Novogratz said: “McGregor is the next step in our strategy to build a disciplined, multi-campus data centre business.
“The demand for compute is a structural shift, not a passing cycle, and we believe the right way to meet it is by building infrastructure that strengthens the communities that host it.”
Galaxy previously acquired the Helios campus in Dickens County in 2022, which it describes as one of the largest AI and HPC data centre campuses in North America.
Earlier this month, Galaxy Digital delivered the first phase of its Helios data centre campus in West Texas, US, providing 133MW of critical IT load to CoreWeave under a 15-year lease agreement.
