According to Virtus, part of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Group, the development aims to meet increasing demand for large-scale, robust infrastructure that can support AI-driven workloads.
The facility is set to add significant capacity to Virtus’ existing operations in the region.
LONDON19 has been designed to meet technical and environmental specifications, including the use of advanced cooling systems and sustainable construction materials.
Plans also include future preparation for exporting waste heat from the site to benefit the local community.
Virtus’ UK data centre estate currently includes over 300MW of operational and committed capacity.
SEGRO will develop the powered shell for LONDON19, with construction scheduled to begin following design approval.
The new data centre is expected to feature a plant deck at roof level and aims to achieve a BREEAM “Excellent” rating for sustainability.
Planning permission for LONDON19 has already been secured through the Slough Trading Estate Simplified Planning Zone.
Virtus Data Centres CEO Adam Eaton said: “We are delighted to expand our Slough campus with the addition of LONDON19, further strengthening our ability to support customers seeking scalable, resilient, and sustainable data centre capacity in London’s western corridor. This development builds on our long-standing relationship with SEGRO and enables us to deliver critical power and IT capacity aligned with customer demand.
“By embedding sustainability considerations from the outset, including provision for future waste heat utilisation, LONDON19 reflects our focus on delivering flexible, future-ready infrastructure that supports the UK’s digital economy while minimising environmental impact.”
Virtus reported that it will continue engaging with the local community as part of its ongoing presence in the Slough Trading Estate area.
