Legrand has partnered with power infrastructure company Karman to incorporate power orchestration technology into its data centre product lines.

Under the agreement, Legrand will embed Karman’s system into its power distribution product lines, incorporating intelligent alternating current rack power distribution units and direct current power shelves tailored for high-density and AI facilities.

The integration aims to allow data centre operators to run higher compute volumes and produce at least 50% or more AI tokens from their existing provisioned electricity.

Built on a customised Nvidia Jetson Orin Nano module, the Karman platform measures energy consumption at microsecond resolution to deliver predictive controls and real-time power budgeting.

This allows facility operators to align instantaneous workload demands with available capacity and schedule additional computing tasks without securing extra grid connections.

Karman, earlier known as Utilidata, previously deployed its embedded hardware in utility smart meters to track electricity flows across distribution grids.

Karman CEO Josh Brumberger said: “Power continues to be the primary limiting factor to data centre capacity expansion. Yet, a large portion of provisioned power in data centres goes untapped.

“This partnership with Legrand changes that. By embedding Karman into Legrand’s power distribution products, data centre operators can now utilise that power to expand capacity immediately, while reducing the price per GPU hour.”

The technology will initially be rolled out across Legrand’s data centre brand portfolio, which includes Raritan, Server Technology, and ZPE Systems. The two companies expect the first integrated hardware units to reach the market in mid-2027.

Legrand supplies electrical and digital building infrastructure across residential, commercial, and data centre sectors and recorded sales of €9.5bn($10.6bn) in 2025.
