Cerebras Systems and Compute Nordic Finland have announced plans to build a new AI data centre in Mikkeli, Finland, with the facility expected to reach 165MW of contracted IT capacity through phased development.
The project’s first stage, delivering 50MW, is currently under construction.

The campus is intended to support demand for Cerebras’ AI compute technology and provide the region with a sustained industrial presence.
This development is governed by a set of service orders, each with a seven-year term, securing Cerebras long-term access to infrastructure tailored for AI workloads.
The project, located in the South Savo region, is also expected to generate local revenue and employment over several years.
Designs for the Mikkeli data centre focus on optimising power and water consumption.
The facility will use closed-loop cooling systems that recycle water instead of drawing from the municipal supply.
Additionally, the campus will be configured to support waste-heat recovery, with the aim of utilising thermal energy produced by AI workloads for community benefit.
Cerebras CEO and co-founder Andrew Feldman said: “Our architecture is built to get more useful AI output out of every megawatt we deploy.
“Mikkeli lets us pair that efficiency with a data centre designed for closed-loop cooling and heat reuse from the ground up.”
Compute Nordic Finland CEO Pyry Virrantaus said: “The clearest measure of a project like this isn’t the number of construction jobs it creates upfront; it’s what remains ten or 20 years later.
“We looked at permanent employment, workforce pathways, local suppliers, and durable economic activity when building this out in Mikkeli.”
Compute Nordic Finland is responsible for project development, operations, and ongoing management, working in coordination with the City of Mikkeli and regional partners.
