Emerald AI has secured $150m in Series A funding to accelerate the commercial deployment of its power-flexible data centre technology.
The funding round, which values the company at $1.05bn, was co-led by Energize Capital and DCVC. It also had participation from a wide group of global investors, including 12 Fortune Global 500 companies.

This brings the firm’s total funding raised to more than $220m.
The company’s software platform enables data centres to adapt their power consumption in real time according to current grid conditions, with the goal of supporting grid reliability and managing energy costs for surrounding communities.
Emerald AI said that its technology is operating commercially at multi-megawatt, full data centre scale. The company reports serving customers from major AI companies, data centre operators and electric utilities.
It has moved into commercial scaling following five demonstrations at active data centre locations, including sites in Illinois, Arizona, Virginia, Oregon and London.
During these trials, the technology was deployed with partners such as Nvidia, Oracle, and regional grid operators to show that data centres can flex their power usage on demand without disrupting critical workloads.
According to Emerald AI, this approach is intended to help address growing concerns around electricity demand from data centres, which are projected to account for a significant share of future energy use in the US.
By enabling dynamic energy management, the company states that its software could make it possible to access over 100GW of grid capacity using the existing infrastructure.

Further deployments are planned for later this year, including a project in California with Silicon Valley Power and the Vera Rubin AI Research Factory in Manassas, Virginia.
