A new US data centre operator, Saragon has launched today (19 August) with ten facilities across nine metropolitan areas, supported by up to $1bn in funding from infrastructure investor I Squared Capital.
The company was formed through I Squared Capital’s acquisition of the data centres from Cogent Communications subsidiary Cogent Fiber.

Experience unmatched clarity with a single platform that combines unique data, AI, and human expertise.
It aims to provide colocation, high-density computing, and infrastructure designed for AI inference and edge workloads.
The data centres are located in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Baltimore, Kansas City, Nashville, Stockton, and Houston.
These facilities have approximately 53MW of installed power capacity and span 259,000ft² of colocation space.
The company is positioning its infrastructure to serve markets representing over 63 million people.
Saragon says the proximity of its sites to enterprises, networks, and end-users addresses the growing demand for low-latency computing, particularly as AI inference deployments increase and workloads shift closer to population centres.
Steve Orlando has been named CEO and Kevin Dalton becomes president of Saragon. Orlando previously led Seaborn Networks, while Dalton was most recently Cumulus Data chief data centre officer.
Saragon’s data centres are designed to support high-density, liquid-cooled, and multi-carrier fibre connectivity to serve requirements such as AI inference, content delivery, hybrid cloud, and mission-critical enterprise workloads.
All facilities are purpose-built, and Saragon maintains outright ownership with provision for future expansion.
Orlando said: “Demand for edge capacity is accelerating across everything we do — retail, enterprise, and wholesale colocation alike — as businesses of every kind bring compute closer to their users.
“AI inference is the newest driver, but the same fundamentals power content delivery, hybrid cloud, and mission-critical enterprise workloads.
“With a launch footprint spanning nine major markets across the country and the backing of I Squared Capital, Saragon is built to deliver that capacity where our customers need it most.”
The company plans to grow its capacity by investing in its current portfolio, expanding in response to customer needs, and acquiring additional assets.
Service offerings will include retail, enterprise, and wholesale colocation, with support for high-density and liquid-cooled deployments and environments focused on network interconnection.
