Chroma has incorporated the MXO Series oscilloscopes from Rohde & Schwarz into its Power Conversion Device Automated Test System Model 8000 (ATS 8000), expanding testing options for engineers focused on data centre and high-power applications.
The integration is aimed at supporting increasing complexity in power system design, particularly driven by AI data centre infrastructure and the resulting rise in power requirements.

The ATS 8000 platform automates testing for power conversion devices and power supplies. By adding support for the MXO Series, Chroma enables users to leverage these oscilloscopes as part of their test setup.
These MXO instruments are designed to capture real-time waveforms, a key need in debugging, calibration, and performance assessment for advanced power electronics.
Rohde & Schwarz’s MXO Series oscilloscopes are equipped with MXO-EP processing ASICs, achieving up to 4.5 million acquisitions per second.
This supports detailed real-time waveform analysis while reducing the risk of missing transient signal events.
The series offers up to 18-bit resolution in HD mode and input sensitivity down to 0.5 mV/div, which the company states is useful in detecting small signal anomalies.
With models supporting up to eight channels and the ability to synchronise up to 24 channels via ScopeSync, the MXO Series is suitable for analysing complex, high-density power delivery systems commonly found in AI data centres.
This flexibility helps align manual validation with automated test flows.
The ATS 8000 supports integration of external programmes through Chroma’s PowerPro 5 control software, accommodating custom analysis and calibration routines in production and real-world testing environments.
