South Korea-based HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, an affiliate of HD Hyundai, has signed a contract valued at $673.8m with Corban Energy Group to supply power generation systems for supporting data centres operated by a major technology firm in the US.
The agreement will see the company provide power generation systems with a combined capacity of 1,000MW.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries will supply the power systems equipped with its 9.6-MW HiMSEN engines.
These engines are described as high-capacity, medium-speed models designed for reliable power generation.
They are engineered to provide uninterrupted 24/7 operation, which is required to meet the demands of data centre environments.
This order follows a previous agreement in April, when HD Hyundai Heavy Industries secured a $425m contract with US energy infrastructure firm AEG for similar data centre projects.
The latest contract reflects ongoing growth in the data centre power generation equipment sector in the US, driven by increased deployment of artificial intelligence services and expanded cloud infrastructure.
Corban Energy Group delivers gas, LNG, and power products for a range of infrastructure projects, including data centres and Department of War developments.
The two companies plan to maintain close cooperation as further projects are considered.
HD Hyundai’s intermediary holding company HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering is progressing with technology for floating data centres, while other affiliates HD Hyundai Electric and HD Hyundai Marine Solution are involved in power distribution, electrical equipment, and maintenance services.
