The contract value includes a €550m ($629m) upfront payment.

The agreement is aimed at addressing rising demand from hyperscalers and data centre infrastructure providers, with Prysmian projecting cumulative incremental revenues of more than €10bn ($11.4) by 2035, compared to its 2025 baseline revenue.

Annual revenues from these agreements are forecast to reach up to €1.1bn ($1.26bn) from 2031.

To meet these commitments, Prysmian will implement a substantial expansion of its fibre and optical cable production capacity, particularly in the US.

This initiative will double the company’s fibre production capacity in the country and is expected to create over 1,000 jobs globally, including 600 positions across US manufacturing sites.

Prysmian’s investment in this capacity increase is set at €1.25bn ($1.43bn) up to 2031 and will cover both US and European production facilities including the glass preforming stage.

Prysmian CEO Massimo Battaini said: “This is a transformative moment for Prysmian’s Digital Solutions. Much like our agreements in the Transmission business, we can now benefit in two ways: first, together with our customers, including the important partnership with Molex, we are investing to meet demand.

“And secondly, we share a clear vision to the market about the buoyancy of demand over the long-term, and Prysmian’s clear ambition to compete in the digital space to create value as a front-runner, in both technology and scale.”

The agreement builds on Prysmian’s existing position as one of the three manufacturers of fibre and optical cables in the US.

Molex stated that the agreement will help secure enhanced supply for hyperscalers and data centre architects as market conditions evolve, combining Molex’s expertise with Prysmian’s extended manufacturing capabilities to support long-term infrastructure projects.
